This place has cleaned up a bit since it changed ownership. Room was clean, check in and check out was quick and painless. Good pricing. Central location. It's nothing special but I will be coming back if I need a hotel in Red Deer again.

I would caution any travelers seeking anything remotely resembling decent, or habitable accommodations, to stay far away from this establishment. It is bar none, the worst accommodations I've ever had to pay for, and I've stayed in hundred year old settlers cabins in the middle of nowhere.

Also upon arrival, we noticed a can placed adjacent to a garbage can, no more than four feet from the door of our room, as well as a main exit from the building. The can was clearly intended as an ash tray, as there were cigarette butts both within, and scattered on the ground all around the can.

When we contacted the inn about the issue, we were told that there was nothing they could do, claiming that they were fully booked, and blaming my husband and I for not having selected a non smoking room during booking. When we informed the manager that we had never been presented with the option to book a non smoking room, he proceeded to blame us yet again for booking late, when we had in fact made the reservation several months in advance.

The worst accommodations I have ever had, hands down. The fridge smelled like vomit. The curtains didn't close all the way(and we had an eastern facing main window). The shower was broken and wouldn't go above luke warm. Then when asked staff to fix it, they brought two screwdrivers with them, which suggested thus was a common problem that they dealt with regularly. They then fixed the problem, and proceeded to pretend that there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. We booked the room several months in advance, then when we were about to check in discovered they had put us in a smoking room(which is illegal in Alberta), and they then blamed us for not selecting non smoking when we booked(which was never an option provided during our booking process), and refused to let my husband switch the room, until I had a rather unfriendly chat with the manager. Also, there was a make shift tin can ashtray with cigarette butts scattered all over the ground, not five feet from our door(which is also illegal), and a main entrance to the main building. The staff were extremely rude, and in order to use the microwave in the room, we had to pull an entire wall unit out from the wall, and plug it in ourselves. I will NEVER stay here again, and I would not recommend it to my enemies.

I then investigated the Alberta smoking bylaws, to see if perhaps the five meter minimum distance from any public entryway law, was not applicable to Red Deer(as we are from Edmonton originally), and found that it is in fact a provincial law, and therefore applicable to any and all city's within the province of Alberta.

Prior to check in, my husband and I noticed that the room we'd been assigned was a smoking room. Neither my husband or myself are smokers, and actually both get severe headaches from second hand smoke exposure.

This was bar none, the worst hotel experience I've ever had! I would not recommend this establishment to my worst enemies, let alone a friend!

The morning after our check in, my husband and I attempted to have a shower, and found that the shower would not achieve any temperature other than luke warm. We reported this to the front desk, at which point a staff member came to our room to inspect the shower, with two screwdrivers in hand(suggesting that we were not the only guests to have experiencedthis issue). She then entered our bathroom, and when she exited, she claimed that the water temperature was fine, and that nothing was wrong. She then proceeded to show us that the water was now able to achieve the desired temperature, and implying that it had been all along. Despite the fact that she had clearly used the aforementioned screwdrivers to repair the temperature control handle in the shower.

It's no 5 star hotel, but for the price I'm giving it five stars. I've stayed here many times for the past four years or so. After trying the hotels and motels this is the best one for value and cleanliness. The staff are friendly. The parking lot is lit well. It's easy to get where your going because it's right across from Tim Hortons in the middle of Red Deer. Makes it easy to start off with some coffee. ;)

Poor service, rooms were not clean (dirty towels left bunched up under table from last people), shower did not work, website said full complimentary breakfast but was only cereal. Not happy with what we got for what we got.

My husband then handed the phone off to me, at which point I informed him that his conduct was unacceptable, and that he would have to find a way to accommodate us. He finally agreed to switch us to a non smoking room(which magically was suddenly available).
